Towards Raccoon Creek

Part of my commute everyday is over Raccoon Creek just south of Palmyra. I made this painting from a photograph I took near there with a wary eye towards passing pickup trucks and cars. Inexplicably, most of the trees, the bridge and the creek disappeared, but the lines of the highway stayed. Oil painting on stretched canvas, 36 x 24"

Early Evening Drive

For this painting, I worked from a photo I took on the road to Carysbrook Plantation. I took many liberties in developing this, so it doesn't resemble the photo, but I liked the way it was going so I went with it. Oil painting on stretched canvas, 24 x 36"

Sandy Beach

Inspired by Sandy Beach on the Rivanna River in Palmyra. A Fun place to swim and enjoy the river. Oil painting on stretched canvas, 24 x 36"

Open Road

The next few weeks I'll post several Landscapes I've done in the last year or two. These are a bit larger in size - 24 x 36". This one started from a local view of a green field with the Blue Ridge in the distance and somehow I made it into a desert! Oil painting on stretched canvas, 24 x 36"
