Eager Learners

I won the grand prize with this painting for the 2009 C2D ( Charlottesville in 2-Dimensions) art exhibit. The theme for that year's show was " Charlottesville, A Multicultural Community. 50 Years Since School Desegregation." Acrylic painting on paper, 10.5" x 12.5"

Bocce

A drawing I made for an art exhibit I participated in with my mother and sister. The exhibit was at Caffe Bocce in Scottsville, Virginia. We covered the big brick walls of the restaurant with a wide variety of paintings - lots of fun. Ink on paper, 6 x 9"

Change

A large painting I made in college. After a hiatus of 20 years, I returned to painting and attended a few painting workshops. I brought along what remained of the black and white paint tubes I used for this painting. I was surprised to find I could still use the paint ... I'm glad I put the tube caps on tightly! Acrylic painting on stretched canvas, 36 x 48''

War

I took a trip to Belgium years ago. I kept a journal on the trip and made a small illustration for the top of each day's entry. This is the illustration for a day we toured World War I battlefields around Ypres. I tried to convey the horrible loss and desolation of that war at that place - and, more broadly, war in general. This image is of a larger painting I made from that illustration for an art exhibit with the theme of peace. Acrylic painting on stretched canvas, 12 x 40"

Pink Moon

I've always tended towards painting in a graphic or design oriented style. Oil painting on stretched canvas, 16 x 20"
