Tools

This pair of canvases were originally used for a couple of Landscape paintings I decided not to keep. Over time, the original paintings were completely covered as I cleaned my brushes on them after working on other paintings. I like the abstract pattern that appeared; it reminds me of a workshop. So I thought tools would look at home on them and I painted them in. Oil paintings on stretched canvas, 12 x 6"

Logging Road

A sketch of a logging road. When I come upon an area in the forest that has been logged, I find myself looking with interest at the stark, raw Landscape. Very interesting, but a little desolate until the trees grow in again. Oil painting on canvas board, 6 x 8"

Bridge at Bremo

I painted this for the annual C2D Art Exhibit at the McGuffey Art Center in Charlottesville. This year's theme is bridges. The Route 15 bridge at Bremo Bluff connects Fluvanna County to the north with Buckingham County to the south carrying traffic high above the James River and its adjacent lowlands. Oil painting on Masonite board, 8 x 24"

Boats on Dark Lake

Here's a painting I did at a painting workshop on water and reflections. It was fun working fast and loose with deep, saturated colors. Oil painting on canvas panel, 11 x14"

Walk to Work

I took a photo of the person ahead of me as I walked to work. I made this painting working from that photo. Oil painting on canvas board, 6 x 6"
